Final Story Board

For my final story board I have taken some inspiration from my initial storyboard and kept the ripple wave effect but twisted it slightly. I have now added the word SUN and made the ripple to come out from that. I have also kept a 3 colour scheme throughout as I believe it fits in with the title of the song.

For this section I want to create small sculptures which the camera can pan around creating a 3D illusion.

I wanted to keep the spinning sun that was first thought off in my initial storyboard. So in this idea I want to create a 3D globe where the camera comes out from the reveal the whole movement. It will finish by 3 dots vanishing.

Initial Storyboard Idea

For the track 'Sun' I have come up with an abstract piece which I believe will works well as a visual media.

The track has an echo effect at the start using the word sun so I thought for every beat of this I would use the visual of a water ripple... Like a sound wave. From this, the track gets very repetitive and has a happy upbeat nature to it. So I thought of trying the media light exposure and use them to create patterns which could look like the sound if it was a image.

Wave Animation Test

I wanted to experiment using the track over the top of some visual images. So i decided to visit the beach and film a short clip of the waves coming onto the shore and crashing against a rock. This is because it is a tranquil scene and I believe goes well with the music.

As well I tried a bit of stop motion by playing with shapes in the sand.

Digital Animation Tests

I created a few digital sun animations to get an idea of how this process is done.
I found it takes a long time to create a small 1-2 second video.

I found this last animation more difficult as I had to keep the sun on the same plane, so that the sunrise looked correct. As well the timing could be quicker so it flows better.

Experimentation 2

An alternate idea I thought about when listening to this track was a ripple effect in the water which creates waves. This goes well with the track as each ripple could represent the echo effect of the word 'sun'. Then the waves can crash against a rock which would represent each beat.

I was thinking of using a range of media to create this piece such as single flow video for the waves crashing against the rocks and digital animation to create the ripple effect of the water.

Experimentation 1

I began to think of possible themes which could represent the track 'SUN'. I found this difficult to begin with as the song was quite random, meaning I couldn't pin down one particular idea I wanted to stick with.

However I started to really listen to the beats in the track and putting pen mark when I heard them. From this I started to see a pattern in the diagrams I was drawing:

I noticed that at the start of the song there was an echo effect using the word 'SUN'. So I tried to recreate this effect by using an orange circle to represent the sun and make it bigger every beat.

Following the echo idea I thought about how the pattern I was creating looked similar to that of the solar system. How the sun could be in the middle and the sound waves could represent the rings where the planets orbit.
I particularly like this idea and it means I can experiment using different methods such as stop motion and light exposure.

Spitballing Ideas

After hearing the track I started to create a mind map of ideas which are relevant to the track.
I first spitballed with the word SUN and what it means to me. I then started to throw ideas of topics which would suit this particular piece of music.

Print To Pixel - SUN

For my Print to Pixel brief I have been given the audio soundtrack -  SUN

My first impression to this track were that it was a very bubbly track which gave me the impression of:
Dancing,
Travelling,
Bouncing,
Holidays.
